Community Immunity: A simulation-based exploration of vaccination choices
Using simulations and role play, students explore how knowledge, social influences, access, and policy all influence whether individuals vaccinate. They then see how vaccination rates of a community determine whether an outbreak turns into an epidemic or gets stopped in its tracks.

Colourful Solutions: Chemical Engineering Dyes to Brighten Lives
Students will learn to think like chemical engineers as they delve into the dye technologies that allow us to express ourselves through colourful clothing. They will read and discuss complex texts, analyse concept maps and graphs, and develop an appreciation for indigenous (Māori) dye technology.

Lesson 1
In Part 1, students will work independently and in groups to extract information from complex texts about each technology and complete concept maps of the chemical processes involved. Throughout the lesson, there are many opportunities for sharing ideas and observations and building a shared knowledge of the technologies and their various tradeoffs.
